Drawing of the Week

I apologize for my delay in posting this. A lot of exciting things have been going on with work (new freelance assignments!) :-D
I'm still working on my goal to post a new drawing every week.
I draw with pen and ink a lot but haven't used charcoal in quite a while. I decided to experiment with white pen and ink/white charcoal on grey pastel paper. I sprayed this drawing with many layers of Fixative, which also gives it a nice texture!
I really like how this flower turned out and I definitely want to do more. :-)

Drawing of the Week

I've had a thought to start updating my blog once a week with a drawing (with no subject in particular, just anything that comes to mind). I love drawing with pen so I decided for my first piece to draw a circle and fill it with a pattern. The pens I used for this include a Staedtler Pigment Liner 0.1, a Micron 005, and a Faber-Castell Brush Pen for the thicker lines. Brush Pens in particular are really great for getting a stroke down quickly.

I'm looking forward to seeing where these drawings go! :-)

Pen and Ink Florals

New designs I did recently in pen and ink. I do so much work digitally now that I almost forgot how much I love traditional media...especially drawing media. I'm calling these "floral motifs" for now and I plan to use them for something...maybe a pattern?

Illustration Friday: Egg

First IF challenge I have participated in for a while...For this challenge I wanted to create a design inspired by intricately hand painted eggs. I wanted to try different colors on the egg but in the end I went with purple as the dominating color (which also happens to be one of my favorite colors)! I hope you like it.

Medium is Illustrator CS6.
